Übersicht

The E-6 visa is issued to foreign nationals who will engage in profit-making arts, entertainment, or performance activities in Korea. Sub-categories: E-6-1 (music, fine arts, literature, broadcasting/entertainment activities), E-6-2 (performance at hotel facilities and entertainment venues — subject to enhanced review), and E-6-3 (professional athletes, team coaches, managers).

Für wen ist das E-6-Visum?

Foreign performers, athletes, entertainers, and related professionals working professionally in Korea. Common applicants include K-pop company trainees and artists, foreign athletes in Korean sports leagues (baseball, basketball, soccer), foreign models, DJs performing at commercial venues, and TV/film actors.

Berechtigungsanforderungen

  • Signed performance or employment contract with a Korean entertainment company, sports team, or commercial venue

  • Demonstrated professional experience or recognized talent in the relevant art or sport

  • For E-6-2 (performance at hotel and entertainment venue facilities): additional review by immigration due to anti-trafficking regulations

  • All E-6 sub-categories require a Confirmation of Visa Issuance (사증발급인정서/CCVI) — you cannot apply for the visa itself directly at a consulate; your Korean sponsor files for the CCVI first, then you use the confirmation number to get the visa stamped abroad

  • No criminal record

  • Valid passport

Risiken für Verzögerung und Ablehnung

Was kann bei E-6 schiefgehen?

Work-visa delays usually come from job-scope mismatch, sponsor weakness, salary issues, or unauthorized activity.

Mein Risiko prüfen

Job duties do not match the visa activity

Korean work visas are activity-specific. A broad title or informal role description is weaker than a contract and duties that match the status precisely.

Grundlage im Handbuch: The manuals organize work statuses by permitted activity and sponsor/occupation requirements.

Sponsor-side records are incomplete

Business registration, tax, employment, wage, or compliance problems at the sponsor can affect the applicant's review.

Grundlage im Handbuch: Work-status manuals repeatedly include employer documents, hiring restrictions, and sponsor review.

Prior violations or unresolved compliance issues

Prior overstays, fines, unauthorized work, tax delinquency, or criminal history can trigger closer review even when the basic visa category looks correct.

Grundlage im Handbuch: The stay manuals repeatedly reference status restrictions, law-violation review, criminal-record checks, tax/payment issues, and status-change limits.

E-6-Visum — häufig gestellte Fragen

Yes. Foreign trainees with a signed contract from a Korean entertainment company (e.g., HYBE, SM, JYP, YG) can enter on an E-6 visa. Some companies use a D-4 (training) or C-4 (short-term performance) visa depending on the length and nature of the engagement.

E-6-2 covers entertainment performance at certain commercial venues. Due to concerns about human trafficking, applications undergo enhanced scrutiny and must be approved by both immigration and the Ministry of Justice.

Yes. Foreign athletes in Korean professional sports leagues (baseball, soccer, basketball) use the E-6-3 sub-category (athletes, coaches, and managers), sponsored by their respective teams and leagues.

The E-6 is tied to the specific employer or venue listed in your contract. Taking additional paid performances without authorization is not permitted. Speak to your 행정사 about the scope of your permitted activities.

Nationals of certain countries (frequent-overstay-notice countries, terrorism-designated countries, and Jeju visa-free-entry-restricted countries) are normally required to apply and receive their visa only at a consulate in their own country. E-6-2 has a specific carve-out: if you're a permanent resident of a third country, or have lived continuously in a third country for 1+ year, you may apply for and receive the E-6-2 visa at Korea's consulate in that third country instead.
